Fun for the little ones at Canal Walk
3 min read
Canal Walk is known as a shopaholic’s dream, but the centre is also a great destination for family entertainment and bonding. Besides the seasonal fun, like the Winter Wonderland, the kids shows that Canal Walk hosts, and the school holiday events, there are more permanent fixtures that your little ones (and you!) can enjoy all year around.
Wonderland
The top attraction for children at Canal Walk is its very own arcade, Wonderland. This is a great attraction for all children and those who want to remain young at heart – and a great bonding experience for parents and children. Play some games and win prizes to take home. The arcade is located in the food court, meaning that you can enjoy a bite to eat after working up an appetite at the arcade.
Restaurants
Canal Walk has some of the classic South African restaurants that are enjoyed by children and adults alike. These include Panarottis, Spur, and Wimpy. Other places like RocoMamas, Ocean Basket, and Bossa are good if you have tweens and teens with you. There are also great spots for a sweet treat and desserts, like Cinnabon, Krispy Kreme, Marcel’s, and Milky Lane. Whatever craving you are having, Canal Walk has got you covered.
Movies
The movies are a great option for passing time for both adults and children. Nu Metro shows movies multiple times a day and has a variety of screening options. Whether you want to see a movie in 4DX, Scene Xtreme, Scene VIP, or Standard 3D and 2D cinemas, there will be something enjoyable for you and your little ones. Nu Metro also has a dedicated Kidz cinema that can be hired out for parties – your child’s next birthday party is sorted! Grab some delicious snacks, sit back, and relax for the next hour and a half with the latest entertaining children’s movie.
Toy Shops
And of course, we have to mention the great toy stores of Canal Walk! Build-A-Bear has been around for many years and is great fun, whether you are coming in spontaneously for a new teddy bear or whether you are hosting a party in the store. We have our own Lego store, where you can get the next set you and your kid can build together, and Toys-R-Us and Toy Kingdom have any toy you can think of.
Checkers Easter Village
For Easter, Canal Walk and Checkers have created an Easter Village in the centre court. Here you can purchase all the chocolate and treats you will need for the holiday and there is entertainment for the kids to enjoy.
Kids Club Express Train
One of the most exciting things young shoppers can experience when they are at Canal Walk, is the Express Train that runs over the weekends and every day of the school holidays. Parents and children can catch a ride through the shopping centre on this colourful and joyful locomotive - the journey starts from the bridge above the food court. It’s R20 per person and the train runs from 10am to 5pm.
Canal Walk Kids Club
Finally, why not join the coolest club on the block? Canal Walk Kids Club is open to children aged 4 to 12 and offers access to exclusive Kids Events and fun workshops. This is perfect if you are looking for your children to socialise, while you mingle with the other parents or go for a shopping trip. When you sign up, you can subscribe to the club’s monthly newsletter and your young one will receive a free birthday gift!
With Canal Walk right on our hotel’s doorstep, the entertainment for you and your kids is sorted. Please ask our friendly staff at reception if you are looking for further recommendations on how you can spend your time with your family while staying in Century City. We’re excited to welcome you and your little ones soon!
